Please note that Dr. Davenport does need skin contact for treatment so wear appropriate clothing for this. We suggest you wear or bring shorts preferably loose fitting shorts as well as a T-shirt or tank top. It is important to know that treatment can not be done over heavy clothing or denim. Do not wear skin lotion as this may affect your treatment.
A mild inflammatory state occurs after FM. This is a normal part of the healing process and is necessary for the body to bring in various substances and specialized cells to clean up, nourish and rebuild the injured loose connective tissue and collagen fibers that make up the fascia. You may experience post treatment pain, swelling, and/or bruising. You might feel some unique sensations in your body following a session. These can include muscle twitches and tremors, pulsating, or heat as blood flows back into chronically starved regions. You may have pain in other areas of the body that you did not have pain before. This should subside after 2-5 days. If you have pain it is recommended that you avoid anti-inflammatories such as Advil or Naproxen. You may take Tylenol and/or apply heat to reduce pain after treatments.
